Hi.

I'm recording my adventures in exploring my mother's food, my own food adventures and sometimes travel. That is Tyson, getting in the way as usual.

King Arthur at the court of.. Lincoln Center?

King Arthur at the court of.. Lincoln Center?

Once again the lottery gods have smiled on us. We won tickets to Camelot at the Lincoln Center Theater. You know what that means? That’s right, finally a different neighborhood to do pre-theater dinner.

The show was pretty good, the whole cast was great and we had some nice seats, nearly at the front of the stage in the manner that it was designed. Plus seeing Phillipa Soo in person in a less dramatic role, was great. The show had many comedic elements to it, but still overall was fairly dramatic.

But we’re here about the food, not the show right? We wanted to do something low key, so I found Old John’s Luncheonette nearby. It’s been open since 1951 and it still definitely has that feel to it. The placemats are also the menu and they have so many NY diner classics on the menu.

We started with the shrimp scampi,

and I had the vegetarian rigatoni and made it non-vegetarian and added chicken,

and my companion had the burger deluxe.

Coming to places like this, I always want to get an egg cream, but I never have space for it. I always say next time…. so… maybe next time!
